This page sets out the editorial standards we apply at Badass.bet. It is public because standards you cannot see are standards you cannot rely on. If you spot content that breaks one of these rules, email [email protected] and it will be reviewed within 30 days.
Scores are calculated from the formula published on how we rate. No commercial partner can move a score, a rank, or a pros and cons list. Where an operator pays for featured placement, that placement is disclosed next to it and never changes the score attached to it. Authors are paid a flat rate and receive no bonus tied to sentiment or sign-ups. Reviews critical of commission-paying operators are common and are already published on the site. If any operator ever asks us to soften a finding, we say no and, if pushed, log the exchange on our corrections page.
Every factual claim in a review must trace back to at least one public source. Where the source is the operator itself (for instance a bonus rollover figure or a claimed licence number), we quote it and link it. Where the source is a public record (a Reddit thread, an independent news article, a regulator notice), we cite it. Where a source is a competing affiliate or review site, we cite the source by name in the "sources" line but do not link to it, because we do not send referral traffic to other affiliates. If a claim cannot be sourced to a public record or to a first-hand test we have carried out, it does not get published.
Every review carries a "last tested" date and the name of the tester. Every deposit and withdrawal timing published in a review comes from a specific test session on that date. When operator terms change materially after publication, we retest and update, with a note appended to the top of the affected page and a corresponding entry on the corrections log.
Every review is fact-checked by a second author before publication, per our fact-checking process. Neither author fact-checks their own work. Fact-checks focus on bonus amounts and rollover terms, deposit and withdrawal timings, licensing claims, and any claim about limit-hunting or slow-paying behaviour. When a fact-check turns up a mismatch, the claim either gets an on-page correction or does not run.
We write in plain English. Reviews carry a house voice that some readers find sarcastic and some find funny, but that voice never overrides accuracy or clarity. The voice is off the moment we discuss responsible gambling, self-exclusion, legal terms, or a specific reader complaint. We never describe an offer as "risk-free", "guaranteed", "sure", "nailed on", or in any language that implies a certain outcome from a gambling product, because no gambling product offers that outcome. We do not use em dashes anywhere in body copy, headings, meta descriptions, or structured data, in line with our house typography rules.
If a reviewer joins or leaves the team, or a role changes, we update the authors page. If the ownership or structure of the site changes in a way that could affect editorial independence, we say so on the home page and on this page for at least 60 days.
Operators or readers who believe a specific finding is wrong can email [email protected] with the URL and the specific claim in dispute. We respond within 30 days. If the claim is wrong, we correct it and log it. If the claim is right but the operator has updated its behaviour since, we retest and, if the retest confirms the change, we update the review with a note explaining what changed and when. If the claim is right and the operator disputes only the wording, we do not soften it.
Content on the site complies with the US FTC endorsement guides, the UK CAP and BCAP codes and Gambling Commission remote gambling licence conditions, the Australian National Consumer Protection Framework for online wagering, and comparable rules elsewhere. Where a piece of content targets a specific jurisdiction, its wording is adjusted to comply with that jurisdiction's rules (for example, no inducement language on pages targeted at Australian residents).
